The idea of company interim management came up in 1987. At that time Angelo Vergani was Managing Director of CAST, (Centre of Strategic Analysis), a management consultancy firm set up by Paolo Borzatta, Vittorio Coda, Claudio Demattè and Alessandro Sinatra. He had seen the idea in operation in Los Angeles in the United States, where CAST had an office, and he developed the concept by studying it in Holland, where interim management was first practiced in Europe. In 1989 he founded Contract Manager s.r.l. together with the partners of CAST and so became pioneer in setting up a new professional line of business in Italy – temporary management. The first few years were difficult. There were few managers available, companies were not familiar with the service and the assignments were mainly to companies facing crisis.

Dedication, a constant eye on the market, the set up in 1994 of a European temporary management network, TMG – Transition Management Group B.V. – Amsterdam, experience in hundreds of different assignments, the driving desire to improve, passion for management and endless hard work have created a strong company culture, a close knit team of managers and a unique, well established business enterprise: Contract manager s.r.l.

Angelo Vergani was born in 1955 and graduated from the Università L. Bocconi in February 1980. He was at the same university for two years as Assistant in Business Studies and taught Business Strategy at SDA Bocconi until 1987. During this period he set up CO.SV.IM (Business Development Course) and other training courses for entrepreneurs. While working at the University he helped to set up and develop CAST, of which he eventually became Managing Director.
He is now the Managing Director of Contract Manager s.r.l. From 1998 until 2005 he was President of TMG (Transition Management Group B.V. – Amsterdam), the most important European network for temporary management. For four years he was Member of the Board of Assolombarda, Association of Innovative Service Industries. He is Founder of the association, Professional Network, of which he has been President since 1999.

Angelo Vergani has acted as Managing Director in various client companies of Contract Manager s.r.l. in the services know-how sector. He has published several books including A Born Entrepreneur – Il edition, Sole 24 Ore, 2003, Milan.
